Vera van der Velpen joined the Metabolomics group as a Postdoctoral Researcher in September 2017. She is responsible for the Alzheimer’s disease study, carried out in collaboration with Dr. Julius Popp group, Department of Psychiatry, CHUV.
Vera has obtained her PhD in Nutrition in 2014 at Wageningen University (NL), after a BSc in Nutrition and Health and a MSc in Food Safety at the same university. In 2014, she moved to Norwich (UK), University of East Anglia, where she has worked for 3 years as a Postdoc on a clinical trial studying the health effects and metabolism of polyphenols related to metabolic syndrome. Vera’s expertise is in semi-targeted metabolomics, nutrigenomics and clinical trials, and she is enthusiastic about applying metabolomics in clinical research studies with a main focus on brain metabolism, cognitive function and nutrition.
