XXXI Vis Moot – 2023/2024

31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is one of the most prestigious international moot court competitions for law students. Taking place annually in Vienna since 1994, it gathers more than 3000 students, practitioners and academics with an objective of fostering the study of the international commercial law and arbitration.

For the 17th consecutive time, the University of Lausanne is presenting a team to the Vis Moot and will be represented this year by:

Shima-Océane Zimmer, Ekaterina Chistiakova, Aurélien Meystre and Rohan Patwardhan.

This year Jonas Zaugg will coach under the supervision of Professor Andrea Bonomi.

The team benefits as well from the support and guidance of

Sergii Drug, Professor Eva Lein, Professor Karen Druckman and John Curran.

Jonas Zaugg is a former Moot participant (2017-2018) and the coach of the UNIL team (since 2018). Mr Zaugg holds a Bachelor as well as a Master in Law from the University of Lausanne, specialising in commercial law and legal theory. Mr Zaugg is currently assistant to Professor Andrea Bonomi at the University of Lausanne and undertaking a doctoral thesis there under the direction of Professor Alain Papaux on the subject of philosophy of law and artificial intelligence. Alongside his studies, Mr Zaugg has worked in the field of health insurance claims against liable third parties for over five years. He is a native speaker of Swiss German, German and French, as well as a proficient English speaker. He is currently learning Italian and Arabic. In his leisure time, he enjoys acting in an amateur theatre troupe, learning about new technologies, cooking, travelling and working out.
