Important

  • Students can only apply to write a Master's thesis once they have completed the two first semesters of their Master studies.
  • They can only defend their thesis once they have obtained 60 credits in the course of their Master studies.

Writing the report

Procedure:

  1. Students who intend to write a Master's thesis must find a HEC Lausanne professor who agrees to supervise. Together, they chose the subject of the thesis
  2. The Master's thesis is supervised by a professor from HEC Lausanne. Regular contacts between the student and the professor are necessary: at least two meetings and regular contact by email or telephone.
  3. The academic thesis accreditation application should be completed online on this site: https://hecluster.unil.ch/meteor/mastmem. Once the document is completed and signed, please make sure to :
          •  upload the final document 
          •  complete the different information 
          •  click SUBMIT FINAL
  4. Oral defence of the thesis in the presence of the expert and the professor : the professor sets the date of the viva in agreement with the student and the expert.
  5. The student informs Isabelle Perrotti by email of the date of the viva.
  6. The professor sends the completed form "Formulaire de validation du mémoire académique" (Validation of the academic thesis) with the grade to the administration.
  7. After the presentation, the student should upload (SUBMIT FINAL) :
          •  the final PDF of the thesis
          •  the required information (thesis title, viva date, etc)
  8. The master’s thesis will be stored in a database

Important dates:

  • The thesis has to be submitted in agreement with the professor
  • Viva before the 6th of July for the Summer Session, before the 6th of September for the Autumn session and before the 6th of February for the Winter Session – 60 credits required.
