Proof-of-concept of narcolepsy reversal by epigenetic therapy
Narcolepsy is a life-long incurable neurologic brain disease characterized by the brain’s inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles, which most often strikes during childhood or young adulthood.

Identification of the modulatory Ca2+-binding sites of acid-sensing ion channel 1a
Extracellular acidification occurs during neuronal activity, activating acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs). The calcium concentration is one of many factors that modulate ASIC activity. Here, we investigated how calcium affects ASIC1a gating, identifying binding sites in two extracellular cavities and in the pore entry.

A fluorescent perilipin 2 knock-in mouse model reveals a high abundance of lipid...
A team of biologists led by UNIL has developed a fluorescent lipid droplet reporter mouse, which allows the staining-free detection of these important lipid-storing organelles. Using this model, they show that LDs are highly abundant in the developing and adult brain.
