A database of accurate electrophoretic migration patterns for human proteins. Published on 09.03.23
A database of accurate electrophoretic migration patterns for human proteins.
In collaboration with the proteomics facility of the University of Lausanne, a group from the department of biomedical sciences, provides the accurate migration patterns obtained by SDS-PAGE and mass spectrometry for 10′000 human proteins. This information is compiled in a database, easily queried through a graphical user interface.
Plasma membrane depolarization reveals endosomal escape incapacity of cell-penetrating peptides. Published on 09.03.23
Plasma membrane depolarization reveals endosomal escape incapacity of cell-penetrating...
Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) enter cells by direct translocation across the plasma membrane and by endocytosis. This allows them to carry cargo into cells. Whether CPP escape endosomes is however unclear. A laboratory from the department of biomedical sciences now shows that CPPs are unable to escape endosomes. Endocytosis of CPP is therefore a dead end for them. These results indicate that the bioavailability and activity of CPPs and consequently their usefulness in biology and medicine would benefit from the identification of molecules able to favor CPP endosomal escape.
Mitochondrial pyruvate metabolism regulates the activation of quiescent adult neural stem cells. Published on 07.03.23
Mitochondrial pyruvate metabolism regulates the activation of quiescent adult neural...
A team of biologists led by UNIGE and UNIL has discovered that blocking mitochondrial pyruvate metabolism activates neural stem cells and augments the generation of new neurons in adult mice.
