Nicolas is the biosafety (BSO) and the radiation protection officer for the oncology department. He provides expert technical consultation and is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining a comprehensive biosafety, biocontainment, and biosecurity management program in our department.

He investigates the circumstances of any accidents or untoward incidents involving biological agents, in liaison with UNIL and CHUV safety services, and ensure that appropriate action is taken.

He is responsible for theoretical P1/P2 biosafety training, biosafety management at the DO and ECOGEN notifications to Federal Biotechnology Office (DKK). Additional dedicated trainings are given when radioisotopes are used.

Nicolas is also in charge of chemical safety, chemical waste management, animal necropsy room and P2 room for production of experimental microorganisms in BIO3.

  • Processing financial documents, including invoices, bills, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensuring efficient fund management
  • Generating customer invoices
  • Monitoring and following up on payments and reminders
  • Conducting year-end closing procedures and reconciling accounts
  • Initiating the opening of new funds

Vincent is responsible for introducing UNIL IT services to newcomers,  IT services (accounts, network), purchases (hardware and software) and  general support (installation, troubleshooting). 

Vincent is also in charge of IT support to the UNIL community of the department.

Jean supervises and coordinates the smooth running of DO laboratories in the agora building.

He is responsible for:

  • Welcoming newcomers (biosafety training, access to labs and offices)
  • Equipment purchase (> CHF 3’000) for the whole DO
  • Agora equipment inventory, access and repair
  • Cold space allocation: cold rooms, -80°C and liquid nitrogen storages
  • Office and lab space management
  • UNIL departmental ordering system management: prices updates, management of existing and new references and suppliers
  • Liaising with representatives from external suppliers
  • Access badges for visiting scientists and representatives from external companies

 

Fiorella is the Adjunct of Jean Halbert. She ensures the smooth running of DO laboratories in the Agora building, under the supervision of the lab manager.

She is also responsible for:

  • Ordering of consumables by the UNIL groups in Agora
  • Management of common consumables stocks
  • Agora chemical products inventory

Nicolas oversees the operations of various types of labs to ensure that safety protocols are followed, and all equipment is supplied and maintained.

He oversees:

  • Coordinate the DO's cross-functional laboratory management processes at its various sites
  • The biosafety within the DO
  • Be responsible for radiation protection activities for the OD
  • Supervise and coordinate the smooth running of DO laboratories at the Epalinges site
  • Assist department management with projects relating to the new SE-C and SB-C buildings, and liaise with the various institutional bodies concerned
  • Manage the support team at the Epalinges site

Kevin is the Adjunct of Nicolas Gestermann. He oversees:

  • Ensure the smooth running of DO laboratories at the Epalinges site, under the supervision of the lab manager.
  • Assume technical responsibility for the shared instruments of the DO laboratories at the Epalinges site.
  • Ensure the replacement of the logistician (Mirjana Jovanovic) for the management of orders and the production of media/buffers for the Epalinges teams in case of vacation.
  • Contribute to updating the various monitoring databases (equipment, surface areas, orders, cold management, etc.) for the Epalinges site.
  • Assist the DO lab manager with projects relating to the new SE-C and SB-C buildings.

Elsa is responsible for glass and plastic stock management, sterilization of solution, tips and small instruments and washing station room (glass, buckets for centrifuge, etc.)
