Switzerland

Bordered by France, Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein, as well as Italy, Switzerland is a small country but with a wealth of customs and diversity! Four national languages are spoken (German, French, Italian and Romansh), plus numerous dialects. As you will find, the culture can vary quite widely between the mountain regions, the central plateau and the main cities. More generally, regions tend to have their own identity, of which they are particularly proud.

The Grand Tour of Switzerland, offered by Switzerland Tourism, can be a good starting point to discover all there is to see, as well as their suggestions of the best attractions in the country. You might also like to check out a tour of the Maison Cailler chocolate factory, or an excursion to the “top of Europe” summit of the Jungfrau!

In just over an hour’s train journey from Lausanne, you can be in Geneva, Montreux, Sion or Bern, Luzern, Zürich, or Interlaken can be reached in just over two hours!
All information about train travel and ticket prices can be found online, as well as information about the Swiss flexi pass, that allows you to pick the days of your travel around Switzerland.
