The Lausanne Advanced Seminar in Political Ecology is an annual event on a specific theme, with the purpose of deepening participants understanding of political ecological approaches to research. The event is co-sponsored with the doctoral school IGS North South (collaboration UNIL, UniBe, UniBasel, UniZH). Previous themes have included tropical forests, political agronomy, feminist urban political ecology, and decolonizing geography.
For 2023, the theme is "Forests: pasts and futures". One day will be held in conjunction with the IDANE Wald+ meeting (an annual meeting of Swiss-based international forestry specialists in government agencies - DDC, OFEV/BAFU, Seco - and researchers from universities and more). The second day will be the doctoral workshop proper.
