Access to doctoral studies

You wish to study in a Doctoral programme at the University of Lausanne.
Select the entry corresponding to your situation. Don’t forget to respect the deadlines.
PhD-students have to be registered at UNIL from the beginning until the end of their doctoral studies, meaning until the registration of their thesis by the Bibliothèque Cantonale et Universitaire.

You have obtained or will obtain a Master from a Swiss university or a Swiss university of applied sciences (HES) and you wish to start a doctorate at UNIL. 
(Does not concern graduates from UNIL)

You have obtained or will obtain a Master issued by a Swiss university or a Swiss university of applied sciences (HES) or another Swiss university degree deemed equivalent by the Rectorate.
 

You have obtained or will obtain a Master from a foreign university and you wish to start a doctorate at UNIL.

Students wishing to obtain a doctorate must be judged formally eligible for the doctoral programme by the Admissions Office.

They must in particular have a Master deemed equivalent by the Rectorate to a Swiss university or HES Master.

 

Graduates from UNIL

Candidates graduated from UNIL must submit and validate an online request for re-enrolment. Information and deadlines on the following link : re-enrolment in doctoral studies

The candidates who have obtained their Master at the examination session preceding the first semester in doctoral studies only have to complete the PhD forms (available at immat.doctorat@unil.ch) and have them signed by their supervising professor. The PhD forms signed by the supervising professor must be hand in to the Doctoral School or the Dean’s Office of the faculty/school and returned to the Admissions Office before 15 October 2024 (autumn semester 2024/2025) or 28 February 2025 (spring semester 2025), respectively 28 February 2024 (spring semester 2024).
