Beyond biomarkers and towards mechanisms
The Metabolomics team has its own research and development goals:
- to define the framework of human metabolism: establishing baseline metabolite levels and exploring metabolic traits as a fonction of sex and age (CoLaus human population study)
- to decipher the neurochemistry of brain function in health, ageing and disease: from model systems to human population studies
- to implement new techniques for qualitative and quantitative metabolome analyses (targeted pathway approach, stable isotope-assisted approach, tissue and cell imaging)
We actively collaborate with local research teams:
-
towards better understanding of mechanisms that underlie complex metabolic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and neurological disorders
-
towards multi-scale 'omic data integration and systems biology approach
