STS Lab

STS Lab : a brief overview

The Science and Technology Studies laboratory (STS Lab) is a research unit within the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS). The main objectives of the STS Lab are to:

  • Provide a forum for discussion and intellectual exchanges for young and senior researchers working with different     theoretical and empirical approaches;
  • Promote teamwork and knowledge sharing to foster the development of new research projects;
  • Promote scientific collaborations and networking at the national and international levels;
  • Increase the scientific visibility of the STS field in Switzerland.

Historical note

The STS Lab was created on January 1st, 2016 to reflect the significant development of STS research and teaching within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (SSP) for over 20 years. Such a development tallies with the expansion of this interdisciplinary field at a European and international level, and with the gradual integration of STS into many areas of study, especially in the social sciences. The STS Lab brings together colleagues at the UNIL and other institutions who work within the STS field and share scientific skills and collaborative networks at the local, national, and international levels.
