How to apply

Admission procedure

Students who are enrolled (at UNIL) in the current semester and wish to pursue their studies with a Master programme of the same faculty the semester following their graduation (Bachelor) have to apply online here.

All other candidate have to apply for registration at the admission service.

For the admission, candidates coming from outside of UNIL must submit their completed applications online (from January 1st) or send it at the following address. The deadline is 30 April (28 february for candidates needing a study visa !) :

When the Admissions department of the University of Lausanne will have transmitted your application to the School of Biology, it will be examined to check if your academical track is in adequacy with the chosen Master to guarantee you the maximum of success.

Language level

As all the courses in our Master are taught in english, we recommend a C1 level in English.

No certification of level is required.

Please note that the University of Lausanne is located in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Your integration will be facilitated if you speak French a little.

Requirements for acceptance

Students must have a Bachelor degree of Science in biology or in a field regarded as equivalent (180 ECTS credits). The Bachelor degree of Science in biology issued by the University of Lausanne enables unconditional acceptance to this Master degree course. All other inscriptions are considered by written application.

Master grant

To facilitate access to Master’s degrees by students with qualifications from foreign universities, the University of Lausanne makes available Master’s grants which are awarded on a competitive basis.

Your application must be submitted to the Office for social affair and student mobility office (SASME) before 15 December :

When the Admissions department of the University of Lausanne will have transmitted your application for the grant to the School of Biology, it will be examined to check if your academical track is in adequacy with the chosen Master to guarantee you the maximum of success.

If your application for the grant is not accepted but you have the adequate academical track for the Master program, the School of Biology will contact you to know whether you are still interested in our Master (without grant).
