Depuis décembre 2006, Laurent travaille au Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) à Perth en Australie. Il est aujourd'hui Team Leader and Principal Researcher with the Oil, Gas & Fuel program of CSIRO Energy Program.
