French courses and vacation courses
A good knowledge of French is required for admission to the University of Lausanne.
Students whose mother tongue is not French and who have no Swiss secondary school diploma, but who are exempted from the Complementary examination of Swiss universities (ECUS), must sit a French exam before final registration on a Bachelor programme.
The University of Lausanne offers French courses to its regular students.
These courses are French lessons (language, literature, culture) intended for non French-speaking students.
Enrolment on these courses does not however grant exemption from the French exam.
Students wishing to improve their knowledge of the French language may enrol on the University's vacation courses at the following address:
Université de Lausanne
Telephone: ++41 (0)21 692 3090
The Certificate of French Studies (certificat d'études françaises) (+ 6 ECTS credits) of the vacation courses, level B1-B2 and level C1-C2 grants exemption from the French exam.
Note: candidates wishing to enrol at UNIL after a vacation course must have sent their application to the Admissions Service within the regular deadline.
