Amy Player is currently researching the development of the new nature writing genre in Britain. She is interested in how such writing might offer alternative ways of knowing and thinking about nature which challenge the dualisms which have often framed the way we think about the more-than-human world. Her thesis looks at notions of hybridity, border crossings, and deep time, and questions how these can translate into writing about the natural world in the Anthropocene era. It further addresses how this writing opens up crucial dialogues within the greater environmental consciousness in order to offer timely, urgent narratives for our current state of international ecological crisis.
