Together towards equality

Support for women’s careers and developing skills in equality among supervisory staff are some of the objectives in UNIL’s statement of intentions for 2017-2021.

In order to achieve these objectives, the Equal Opportunities Office is running a new series of training workshops in 2018 aimed at Administrative and Technical Personnel.

PAT Programme

“Ready for her career!” workshop

This workshop proposes to take stock of your career path and skills, define your professional objectives and develop an action plan to overcome obstacles and achieve your objectives. Through various professional situations, we will explore ways to best serve your career objectives, strengthen your credibility, inspire respect and negotiate more easily.

This workshop is highly participatory, with individual, group and group exercises and exchanges of experience. It is structured over two days spaced over time, it also includes practical applications in its own professional context and offers a free individual coaching session with the trainer.

“Inclusive management at UNIL: role of managers, challenges and good practices” workshop

What are the challenges of diversity and gender equality and its benefits for an institution like UNIL? What role can managers play in promoting this diversity? How to identify and overcome the obstacles to the implementation of inclusive management? What tools and good managerial practices can be used?

Combining theoretical content, discussions, concrete tools and simulations, this workshop is aimed at women and men from the UNIL PAT who are in a management position and wish to develop their diversity management skills within their team.

Target audience
Men and women of the UNIL PAT in a management position.

The PAT Gender Equality Lunches

Moments of reflection and exchange around a theme concerning the PAT and equality at UNIL are proposed regularly, between 12pm and 2pm.

Retreats: what women need to know

Aimed at women in the PAT (all functions), this short workshop presented the inequalities between women and men in Swiss old-age provision and the points of vigilance to be taken into account in order to prepare for retirement. It was led by Danielle Axelroud and Lynn MacKenzie, specialists in equality issues in old-age provision, and Luis Miguel Lopez, Head of the Remuneration and Social Insurance Unit at UNIL's Human Resources Department.

Other training courses

CEP Workshop "Women and careers take stock to move forward"

This training is intended for any woman wishing to develop her potential and take stock of her career.

Its main objectives are to: 

  • Put your life and career into perspective.
  • Enhance its assets and identify the areas to be developed.
  • Specify a career vision and the milestones for its implementation.
  • Successful communication and promotion of your personal brand.
  • Explore female reference models.
  • Develop natural authority and leadership.

The cost of this training is covered, for the employees of the University of Lausanne, by their respective administrations within the limits of the budgets allocated to the CEP.

CEP Workshop "Practising inclusive leadership"

This new one-day training course from the Centre for Continuing Education (CEP) offers participants the following objectives:

  • Become aware of the situation and issues of diversity in organisations (including gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, nationalities and origins).
  • Understand the multifactorial dimension of the theme.
  • Raise awareness of the impact of stereotypes, identify one's own biases.
  • Understand the challenges of inclusion and the role of professional and managerial staff.
  • Avoiding pitfalls in daily managerial practice.
  • Communicate and manage in an egalitarian way.

For UNIL staff, the cost of this training is covered by their unit, within the limits of the budgets allocated to the CEP.

Training workshops of the UNIL Human Resources Department

The UNIL Human Resources Department offers training workshops on human resources management topics related to the employee's life cycle, such as :

  • Selection and recruitment
  • Remuneration

  • Support for employees
  • End of working relationships

These workshops offer a synthetic theoretical approach, emphasize practical application and aim to provide tools that can be used immediately.

These workshops are free of charge for all UNIL staff. Only in French.
