SNSF grants
Erna Hamburger Foundation

Hosted by UNIL since 2012, the Erna Hamburger Foundation provides financial support for women who want to continue their education by taking a postgraduate course in Vaud canton.

Grants from the Foundation are designed to help women facing financial difficulties, and whose scientific and professional value is worthy of support, to supplement their income from professional activities. Applicants must provide evidence of advanced work and have been accepted for the final year of their thesis.

Faculty grants

Transition grants (FBM)

The FBM Transition Grants (previously "Bourse Pro-Femmes") are intended to encourage the academic development of women employed by the CHUV, UNIL and Unisanté.

The grants, for a maximum duration of two years, can be used to cover:

  • partially the salary of the beneficiaries to enable them to devote more time to the submitted research project;
  • research costs (e.g. staff, consumables, equipment);
  • the costs of a stay abroad (but not for the entire period of the grant) as part of an academic project or further training related to the submitted research project.

If the grant is awarded, it may amount to CHF 100,000 over 24 months.

"Equality" grant (FGSE)

The Gender Equality Commission of the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment (FGSE), supported by the Dean's Office, has created an “Equality” grant, which aims to improve the equality of opportunities within the faculty.

The grant lasts for three years (an initial year, renewable once for two years) and provides access to a post at the level of junior lecturer to individuals whose research activities have been reduced or interrupted as a result of their family situation.

Mary Douglas grant (FTSR)

The Faculty of Theology and Sciences of Religions (FTSR) provides the Mary Douglas grant for the next generation of female academics, in honor of the British anthropologist, one of whose chosen subjects was the anthropology of religions.

The funding is available to women from a Swiss or foreign university.

This is a "Research Associate" position with the academic title of Visiting Professor. The position has a maximum duration of 12 months, the rate of activity is to be discussed. It is open every 2 years to allow a rotation in the fields of competence present in the Faculty of Theology and Sciences of Religions. The position is hosted by the institutes of the FTSR on a rotating basis.
