Dr. Alba Motes Rodrigo

Research Interests

My research focuses on information transmission and behavioral acquisition in a variety of animal species to better understand how different learning mechanisms influence cultural variation in animals. In my previous work I have investigated song learning in passerines, tool behavior acquisition and expression in great apes and copying abilities in chimpanzees. Currently, I am investigating social information transmission within colonies of social insects as well as variation in cognitive abilities among castes. The goal of my project is to gain insight into how individual variation in behavior influences decision making at the colony or group level.
